    Travel During the Holidays?

    Dec32021
BlogPreparing for business travel during the holidays

    1. Travel on “off-peak” days.
To avoid the holiday crowds and high dollar tickets, book your trip a day or two early, or a day later than the peak holiday travel days: December 22nd and December 28th. Avoiding these days can save you time and money.

If you are staying at a hotel, talk to the concierge for reservations; they can suggest places that steer clear of holiday crowds.

    2. Pack necessities in your carry-on.
It is possible for your checked luggage to get lost during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Pack daily necessities in your carry-on: extra work clothes and meeting essentials.

    3. Get to the airport early.
Airports are always busier during the holidays. It’s likely that airlines and security lines will be backed up due to the high volume of holiday travelers.

    4. Save time in security.
If you haven’t already, register for TSA Pre-Check or CLEAR before your trip to skip the general security lines. Another way to save time is to download your mobile boarding pass ahead of time.

    5. Prepare for delays.
The holiday season is known for unpredictable storms, so prepare for flight delays. If available, try to book a morning flight rather than a later one to prevent further set backs. Make sure to have several entertainment options on hand and locate airport lounges just in case your delay gets extended.

Also, it is best to charge your electronics and download items prior to arriving to the airport. It is not the safest option to connect your company’s device to an airport’s public network.

    6. COVID-19.
International Travel: As of December 6, 2021, The United States will require a negative Covid-19 test from all international travelers 24 hours prior to arriving in the U.S., regardless of vaccination status. If your business trip will take place outside the U.S., then make sure to schedule a Covid-19 test ahead of time.

If you are traveling within the states, it is still important to review the Covid-19 guidelines for your final destination. Every city has different Covid protocols, so make sure to look into it and abide by the requirements.

The mask mandate for planes, trains, buses and all forms of public transport has been extended until March 18, 2022. Pack extra face-masks for your trip, you never know when you will need an extra!

ITS hopes that these holiday travel tips will save you time, money and stress on your next business trip. Have a safe and happy holiday!
